To get this look, paint your walls a neutral colour like cream for a soothing look. A textured effect gives the room a more well worn feel. Add warmth by using dark mahogany furniture that contrasts with the neutral palette. A four poster bed goes well with this scheme and brings presence to the space. Layer pillows in large scale leaf prints and pastel greens for a tropical worldly feel that is reminiscent of the Colonial era. An oriental rug in green and cream goes underfoot to the anchor the bed. Vintage style artwork, accessories and suitcases gives an old world charm and adds dimension to the space. While rustic table lamps add textural interest. Large scale plants and a gold gilded mirror are used to give the illusion of increased space and gives a warm cosy feel. Last, but not least, a semi-flush pendant lamp with crystals adds that bit of elegance to the space.
